The annual Phuket King’s Cup Regatta returns for its 31st edition from 2 – 9 December off Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand. Headquartered at the recently rebranded Beyond Resort Kata (formerly Kata Beach Resort & Spa), organisers are looking to build on the regatta’s past success and heritage, while also supporting the growth of the sport amongst youngsters in Thailand.

In addition to the Keelboat & Multihull classes that will race on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th of December, the regatta will include Optimist Boy & Girl, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard and Topper classes which will compete on the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th December.

Kevin Whitcraft, President of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organizing Committee, says, “We would like to thank Kata Group and the Government Lottery Office for their kind and enduring sponsorship of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, now in its 31st year. Following the huge occasion of last year’s 30th Anniversary landmark race and event series, this year’s regatta already has over 75 keelboats confirmed to participate, so the regatta endures as a big attraction for sailing teams from around the world”.

“For 2017, we also have a special focus on growing the dinghy components of our overall regatta, as we in the sailing community in Thailand can feel the positive effect this is having over years and years as the sport of sailing continues to grow in popularity here”, says Kevin.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on 3rd December 2017 at Beyond Resort Kata. The Prize Giving Ceremony will be held on 9th December, also at Beyond Resort Kata.
