Day 3 of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta greeted sailors with good winds. 15 knots, gusting to 20 plus, saw lots of action on all courses.
In IRC Zero the 4-boat fleet completed 3 races today and Team Premier showed her class in the strong conditions to take two firsts and lead the standings after day 3. Sam Chan’s Freefire showed consistency with two second places only for a first in the last race of the day by HiFi to see them on equal points. Jelik II took line honours in all races today but couldn’t convert that into a handicap win.
IRC 1 is hotting up with winners sprinkled throughout the class. The all-Japanese crew on Karasu scored a first and two seconds to hold onto the top spot in the series.
A first for KukuKERchu in the second race and a first for EFG Bank Mandrake in the third race sees only three points separating to the top three with only two days to go.
Walawala 2 had a good day on-the-water challenging hard, only to loose out in the protest room for the second race of the day. She holds onto fourth place in the series by only two points from Ichi Ban who are working their way up the leaderboard after a poor start to the series.
Arguably the most competitive fleet on the water, IRC 2 completed two races today and the Royal Thai Navy 1 entry scored two wins to take her top of the standings ahead Singapore entry, Foxy Lady 5.
