PRO Simon James, decided the weather conditions were good enough on Day 3 for Royal Langkawi International Regatta’s iconic ’round the island’ race. Having not been held last year due to unfavorable wind conditions, sailors were excited at the prospect of the race which takes in some of the most beautiful scenery for which Langkawi has become famous.

The Racing Class had a clear start at 9.35am on course 22. Multihulls started at 9.40am on course 21 with only 3 boats, as Lady Alla retired from the Regatta. The third group of IRC1, IRC2, Club Class and Ocean Rover Class started soon after the Multihulls also racing course 21.

The wind was not as strong as predicted earlier, and at about 12.45 it started to drop and rain clouds closed in. Because there was literally no wind south of Pulau Dayang Bunting, the PRO decided to shorten the races for all classes finishing at Gate 2 except for the racing class which did the full course 22.
