About Us

Duncan Worthington
Thailand enticed Duncan away from the industrial North of England and introduced him to sailing. An avid beach holiday-goer as a child, with a passion for body-boarding in Newquay (UK) and France, Duncan was introduced to sailing in Thailand through the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta and The Bay Regatta (formerly the Phang Nga Bay Regatta).

Working on the committees of both, Duncan earned his stripes. Today, having dedicated over a decade to the Phuket King’s Cup, in the role of Media & Communications Director, Duncan knows a thing or two about sailing, regattas, PR and media, and event organisation.

Currently retaining his role with the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, Duncan also provides PR and Communications services to the Top of the Gulf Regatta and the Phuket International Boat Show (PIMEX) and has to other regattas including the Samui Regatta and Phuket Raceweek.

Having set-up a media company in Phuket approximately 10 years ago, Duncan expanded to open offices in Bangkok and Singapore, and published market-leading titles in real estate yachting – both Thailand and Pan-Asian editions – as well as a number of key industry-specific news websites.

Water-sports, and sailing in particular, finally won him over and Duncan, together with Richard Valentine, launched Go Yachting in 2011, a monthly IPTV Show with a focus on the Marine Scene in Asia, and the web portal www.MarineScene.asia.

In his spare time this year, Duncan plans to take up kiteboarding.

Richard Valentine
After a successful career as a salesman for a UK based international communications company for 13 years Richard took a career break opportunity to do some travelling finally settling in Asia.

A lifelong love of the water saw him train as a diving instructor in Koh Samui, Thailand where he worked both as an instructor and sales manager in a local dive center before being transferred to Phuket to head up the wholesale and retail arms of Thailand’s second largest supplier of diver equipment.

A local newspaper in need of professional sales experience headhunted Richard as their Sales Manager who then ran a sales team successfully expanding the size and distribution of the paper to become the second largest in the area.

A change of direction, but still in media, saw Richard take a spell as Sales Manager for a Phuket-based radio station, further expanding his contacts at the highest levels of business in Phuket and the region.

When not involved with the filming of regattas and boat shows in Asia, Richard’s role in Go Yachting sees him searching out new sponsorship and market opportunities.

Fourteen years experience with Rotary International at local and International levels, has also added to his abilities in planning and coordinating events, as well as offering an interesting mix of business contacts.

When not involved with Go Yachting, Richard can be found either on the golf course or enjoying his other love in life – fine dining.
