Luxury all the way: Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous 2016
22 December, 2016
When a luxury resort operator puts their multi award-winning pool villa resort at the disposal of the superyacht fraternity, you know something special is going to happen.
And special it was.
Three days of lavish parties, socializing and superyacht hopping organised by Infinity Luxury and hosted at Kata Rocks wowed Asia’s superyacht aficionados and industry leaders in what is now firmly fixed on the global superyacht calendar – the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous.
Wine and Cheese Master Class – check. Yoga classes – check. Louis XIII Cognac Master Class – check. Superyacht owner’s dinner hosted by Feadship, sunset cocktails and tapas and a superyacht cruise and beach BBQ at The Surin.
Spa treatments, private pool villa chillin’, Thai cooking classes, sundowners, champagne breakfast… it was a decadent three days at Kata Rocks and the team who put it all together reminded Phuket of its luxury roots.

An open-air operatic performance was the highlight of the finale – the Kata Rocks Charter Season Opening Party

Kata Rocks launched their own small batch of hand-crafted branded gin at the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous. Crafted by the legendary Chiang Mai-based artisan gin distiller, Nikolaus Prachensky (left) – seen here with Kata Rocks General Manager Scott Toon.
Fourteen stylish superyachts took part in the inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous. For sheer size, the star of the show was the 90 metre MY Lauren L – the world’s 33rd largest superyacht – who is available for charter in the region right now. Not to be outdone was the stunning 60 metre Feadship MY Paraffin and the 51 metre MY Northern Sun who lined up alongside MY Azul A (34m), MY After 8 (29.9m), MY Mia Kia (29.5m), MY Pershing 92 (28m), and MY Princess 77 (24m) – all looking right at home of Kata Rocks.

On the sailing front, the stunning traditional design, new-built Indonesian Phinsi SY Dunia Baru lead the size stakes at 51 metres followed by the 34 metre contemporary sloop SY Ocean Runner 110. Yachts of classic lines included the 29.6 metre gaft-rigged schooner SY Dallinghoo, the 29 metre ketch SY Aventure and teak hull luxury schooner Stereden Ann Esperanz (28m). The stunning Nautor’s Swan SY Aspiration (26.2m) rounded out the sailing fleet.

Kata Rocks are no newbies to the luxury scene. Having opened in 2014 with 34 superyacht-inspired Sky Villas, the villa resort has won more than 40 international property and hospitality awards over it’s short life and has set the benchmark incredibly high for anyone game to try and follow.
The Kata Rocks Charter Season Opening Party overlooking the Andaman Sea, was a fitting grand finale for this talk-of-the-town superyacht gathering.
Mr. Richard Pope Kata Rocks’ & Infinite Luxury Chief Executive said: “Overall we are thrilled by the response we have received from all KRSR participants. Feedback has been extremely positive and it is very gratifying to help elevate Phuket to elite status as a true luxury destination and superyacht playground.”
Infinite Luxury
Simply put, Infinite Luxury are a trend setter in Phuket’s high end villa resort space. Thirty-four stunning pool villas ranging from 134sqm one-bedroom villas upto the 460sqm four-bedroom villa penthouses, all command panoramic Andaman Sea views from the promontory.
For Infinite Luxury, the Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous was a superb showcase of their resort and 5-star service. In fact, it was more than that – it was an opportunity to highlight a lifestyle. A lifestyle which Infinite Luxury wishes to open up to more through their recently launched Infinite Luxury Club whereby owners receive membership privileges at the resort as well as access to exclusive events organised by Infinite Luxury.
Fancy enjoying the Singapore Grand Prix from a private box? Or taking in the sights, sounds and lifestyle of the Monaco Grand Prix from the deck of a superyacht? These are just two examples of exclusive opportunities that members have been able to experience.
And how much does this luxury lifestyle cost? Not as much as you may think. Infinite Luxury offer fractional options at Kata Rocks as well as outright ownership, and guaranteed rental returns ensure the luxury lifestyle is also a sound investment choice. The team at Infinite Luxury and Kata Rocks deserve a lot of credit for the fantastic inaugural Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous. It’s 12 months until the next edition and the organisers are going to need every single day of that – to better the inaugural Rendezvous is going to take some doing.
See you next year from 8 to 10 December, 2017 at the second Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous.
