This annual destination-hopping Regatta is held along the west coast of peninsula Malaya starting from the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in Port Klang and finishing in Langkawi.
The Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is open to all classes, from IRC 1 racers and including other IRC classes, through to classic yachts, cruisers and multihulls.
The Regatta covers nine days and includes a variety of races including passage races and inshore harbour races.
Background
The Regatta was launched in 1990 as a sequel to five annual offshore series which linked three of the most popular islands to the west of peninsular Malaysia, namely Pangkor, Penang and Langkawi.
The Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta is organised every year by the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in association with the RORC. It consists of three overnight passage races, some 240 miles in total and three days of harbour races in Penang and Langkawi.
The Regatta Patron, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, continues to support the event both on and off the water and enjoys greeting the competing sailors each year, as well as presenting the magnificent Raja Muda Cup, which he commissioned in 1994.
