The 15th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek will be the first regatta of the 2018-19 AsianYachting Grand Prix Championship.
Phuket Raceweek, also known as Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek, is a multi-class event including IRC racing, sports boats, cruising, bareboat and charter yachts, and multihulls.
The regatta is highly competitive and enjoys the SW monsoon weather conditions and wind patterns making it tactically challenging. The racing is always fun and the Regatta is attracting a growing international fleet who coming especially to Phuket for the occasion, chartering boats and joining crews.
The 15th Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek will feature four days of racing off Phuket’s East coast, combined with one of the best onshore social scenes including beach side parties at the idyllic 5-star Cape Panwa Hotel.
Cape Panwa Hotel is the ideal regatta venue, with private beach and pier access.
Background
Founded by Image Asia and now owned by Media Business Services, Phuket Raceweek was created to take advantage of the South West monsoon wind patterns off the South-East coast of Phuket in the so called low or ‘Green Season’.
The first Raceweek, named Phuket Raceweek was held in 2004 at Evason Phuket & Six Senses Spa, who were the host sponsors.
In 2012, faced with a venue change, Phuket Raceweek organisers concluded a multi-year deal with a new Title Sponsor, Cape Panwa Hotel and Host Venue Sponsors, Cape Panwa Hotel and Kantary Bay, and the event remains Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek still today.
Phuket Raceweek was voted ‘Best Asian Regatta of the Year’ in the Asia Boating Awards 2011.
